Wafilin Systems marks its growth with the kick-off of the renovation of its new premises

Leeuwarden, 9 March 2023 – The renovation of Wafilin Systems’ new premises at the Edisonstraat in Leeuwarden started today. Wafilin Systems has decided to move to a new premises to facilitate the company’s growth ambitions. The current office at the WaterCampus in Leeuwarden no longer offers sufficient space to realize the company’s ambitions. The new premises offers more opportunities to develop and strengthen its position in the international market. This new milestone for Wafilin Systems was heralded by Leeuwarden alderman Abel Reitsma, who kicked off the demolition of the old office building.

New premises

Wafilin Systems has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, which meant that the office at the WaterCampus in Leeuwarden and the storage of its extensive arsenal of mobile test equipment no longer met the company’s needs. In order to continue its growth and increase its visibility, Wafilin Systems was looking for its own premises. After a year of searching, suitable premises were found in close cooperation with the municipality of Leeuwarden and Jaap Hoekstra Vastgoed.

“With Wafilin Systems’ project, we are working on a unique challenge: transforming an outdated industrial building into a modern, functional building. By reusing and modernizing an existing building, we are giving it a new purpose and making it futureproof..It is a challenging and inspiring project that we are proud to be working on,” says Jaap Hoekstra about the plans for the property.

The new facility will accomodate up to 50 employees and include an expeditionand storage area from which Wafilin will be able to maintain, prepare and deliver its mobile pilot plants to customers, in addition to supplying membranes and related products. the company will establish its own application facility to develop new membrane applications for customers. With this new location, all services will be under one roof and Wafilin will be able to fulfil its growth ambitions and strengthen its position in the national and international market. Wafilin currently employs over 25 employees and is active in the dairy and food industries.

Closing 20 years of partnership

Wafilin Systems started in 2004 at the Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences and has occupied the Johannes de Doper church since 2013. This marks the end of 20 years as a partner and tenant of the Water Campus. However, the company will remain firmly based in Leeuwarden because of its network and cooperation with knowledge institutions and partners, and because of the business climate in the city of Leeuwarden.

For Henk Schonewille, Wafilin Systems’ move to its own premises is the next step in realizing its ambitious plans: “We have grown tremendously over the past few years and have reached a stage where we can exchange our offices in a shared building on the Water Campus for our own premises. Our new office will allow us not only to continue to expand our business, but also to grow and strengthen our team. The company is looking forward to further development in its new home and hopes to continue operations from its new Leeuwarden office after the summer.
