With support from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Northern Netherlands Alliance (SNN) / KEI 2019 (Knowledge and Innovation), Wafilin Systems has set up a new position: Mechanical Engineering (ME) Project Engineer

The reason for this new position is that Wafilin has been extending its knowledge in the field of organisational innovation. There is a missing link in terms of the mechanical engineering knowledge needed to carry out chemical and process technology projects from end to end. The activities that are carried out as part of projects and, with it, the knowledge that is developed during the secondment period are related to mechanical engineering (ME), and are meant to develop and embed the missing ME knowledge within the organisation.

Harry van der Wal will work closely with current employees at Wafilin, with a view to embedding his specific knowledge and skills securely within the organisation. Harry’s secondment adds technical ME knowledge – and, as such, value – to the organisation, which will allow the organisation to take on future projects from end to end. This contributes to organisational innovation.

The following activities will be carried out:

• Executing all ME aspects of a project, together with Wafilin Systems B.V. employees (producing ME drawings in 2D and 3D). This will embed ME knowledge in the development, design and production of membrane filtration systems (phase 1).
• Acting as a project manager on smaller projects (phase 1), together with Wafilin employees.
• Supporting Wafilin project managers on major projects (phase 1).
• Securing specific ME knowledge and processes related to quality management systems (for example, standardisation, documentation management and supplier audits – phase 2).
• Transferring and embedding knowledge by working closely with and supporting current Wafilin employees in developing their knowledge and skills in the field of mechanical engineering, as well as by recording structural drawings, diagrams, etc. in a knowledge database (phases 1, 2 and 3).

The reason for this new position is that Wafilin has formulated a number of ambitions for the next few years:

* national and international growth

* increased brand awareness

* more knowledge of Marketing and Communication within the organisation.

Marcom professional Ruth Rottiné will work closely with current employees at Wafilin, with a view to embedding her specific knowledge and skills securely within the organisation. She will map out Wafilin’s current image and then establish and implement a framework for increasing our national and international brand awareness. This will enable the integration of the marcom activities and the position of Marcom Professional within Wafilin.

By the end of her secondment period, Ruth Rottiné will have transferred her knowledge of and experience with marketing and communication to our current staff, having contributed to the development of a future-driven and nationally and internationally known organisation.

This approach aims at developing our knowledge of market innovation so that we can further build Wafilin’s image, increase national brand awareness and make major strides on the international market.
